Last week, the GCL made its appearance on the tour in Monaco… catch up with the New York Empire team here! Next stop on the Global Championship League tour… Paris, France! The ‘city of lights’ stop marks the move into the second half of the 2019 season and the battle for the championship race. The backdrop, on this 11thstop…the Eiffel Tower. What is more iconic than that?
Paris is like no other city in the world, it is the center of fashion and haute couture! We can’t forget, the sheer sophistication of the city’s rich history in the art world, the literary world, making it the epitome of culture and a natural fit for an equine competition of this stature.
Where to begin, there is so much to explore in Paris, from Notre Dame, the River Seine, the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre, Moulin Rouge, and yes, of course the Eiffel Tower. The food, the fashion, the art, the music…Paris fills the senses like no other city on the planet!
Visitors from all over the world are planning their trip to take in Paris while also attending the Global Championship League competition! You may get your tickets here if you are planning to make the trip (July 5th-7th2019)!
Horses and Paris…a long-standing relationship, but of course! Actually, the whole country of France seems to love horses! In France, riding is the top outdoor sport! The French Equestrian Federation claims there are around 2 million men, woman and children who enjoy the sport in Prance. There are some 9,351 equestrian centers in France, a remarkable figure! Many of France’s competitive horsemen and horsewomen caught the horse bug from participating in pony club. France hosts more international equestrian competitions than any other nation. So, it is fitting the GCL would make it a necessary stop on the tour!
Paris boasts many carousels in all the major parks around the city from Luxembourg Gardens to Buttes-Chaumont, as well as pony rides for children to enjoy! Major horse country is up in Normandy…many of France’s national stud farms are located to supply horses to create the nation’s cavalry.
The world renown stud farm, Le Pin was built between 1715 and 1730. Still standing strong today, the horseshoe shaped barn is the host for major equestrian events. In 2014, the magnificent property hosted the World Equestrian Game disciplines, Dressage and the exhilarating phase, Cross Country!
Le Pin stud farm is where Thierry Hermes went to learn the harness-making trade. He then founded the now famous workshop (which turned into much, much more—if you know your ‘fashion history’) in 1837 in the Grands Boulevards quarter of Paris. The now, yes infamous house of Hermes! The brand DNA is basically rooted in Equine. Does that sound familiar? A company that started making saddlery, which turned into a luxury leather goods heralded by its popular Birkin and Kelly bags, and breathtaking silk scarves (most of which depict horse scenes or related equestrian items) and easily recognized by its patented orange pantone color. Hermes has become an exclusive fashion leader over the years.
Mane ‘n Tail shares those equine roots as well! Yes, we love and are loyal to our horse grooming products and those who use them and have loved them for almost 50 years! Today we may be more widely known for our Mane ‘n Tail Original Shampoo and Conditioner that people use just as much as the horses do! Horse people know where we came from, just like Hermes did, but many people do not know our history or the about the equine connection.
We encourage, horse-folks and non-horse folks to try our personal care line and what products we make specifically for them. For example, we do a special Color Protect Shampoo and Conditioner on the personal care side! Keep your color-treated hair looking and feeling healthy and staying vibrant until your next treatment!
On the grooming side, we are always innovating and coming up with new and requested solutions that will help your horse looking its best! Our Ultimate Gloss Shampoo and Conditioner has become a new superstar in the industry. Check out the NY Empire team…their horses are clean, shiny and show-stopping from using Mane ‘n Tail Ultimate Gloss Shampoo and Conditioner. Take a cue from them! Their grooms get it!
We can guarantee that Georgina Bloomberg, Daniel Bluman and Scott Brash will have their horses in tip-top shape for Paris! These three riders will be representing the NY Empire Team at this competition spot. They currently sit in 12th place, and are sure to bring a strong performance to Paris, France! Friday, July 5th they will soar over the 5 foot jumps in front of the Eiffel Tower. Do you want to watch? You can feel like you are there by tuning into the Global Champions Tour website! If you miss it Friday, you have another chance on Saturday and the jumps are even more impressive! Join us as everyone at Mane ‘n Tail cheers them on!
